Cooking delicious meals for you and your family does not mean you have to spend an arm and a leg at the grocery store!

Cooking budget friendly meals only means, to me anyway, that you have to be organized and be creative!

I have noticed the significance difference when I started couponing; especially when I started stockpiling canned/jar sauces, pastas, and prepared side dishes (i.e. rice packets, potato packets, and etc).

I really work hard to serve my family “homemade” meals, but it is sometimes impossible to cook everything from scratch … it is time consuming and can be quite expensive; so the creativity part comes in.

These prepared side dishes saves me tons of time so I can allocate that time into my main dish … it’s all about the balance!

Anyhow … stockpiling staple goods are always important to have because you can always make something out of nothing!

Let me share with you some few examples …

The days I run all day long and wont be home until 6:30 in the evening I run my crock-pot.  I cook pasta sauces, stews, roasts and soups in there before I running out the door with my kids.

If I am cooking pasta sauces that day I either cook pastas the day before or pack open my 3-minutes quick pastas.  I get the water going to boil, I quickly change clothes and get kids all unpacked, and by the time I come to the kitchen the water is already boiling.

During the 3-minutes I have I get the table set and voila the pastas are done … AND my sauce is also done too!

Moreover, if I am cooking a roast I usually opt for mashed potatoes (usually garlic mashed potatoes because garlic to anything tastes awesome!).  This is where the boxed potatoes come in handy!  It only takes minutes and you have Delicious roast and mashed potatoes on the table.

With soup … broil some Italian or French bread!  It takes only minutes and great to use to soak up all that broth!

Like I said before … you need to get yourself organized and prepare … prepare!  Sometimes you have to think 3 steps ahead to make your time in the kitchen more fun and efficient!

Happy Cooking!
