Pranks have come a long way since the days of the Whoopee Cushion, but there is still a multitude of stupid stuff that is perfect for pulling a prank on your friend or coworker. Sometimes the classics are the most effective, and still have a lasting impact. A dribble glass, for example, is one such classic prank that has been pulled on children and adults for decades now. This is a specially constructed glass that, when sipped out of, will cause the person drinking to dribble the liquid in the glass all over themselves. While it is stupid, it is still a good sight gag and a relatively harmless prank.
Another example of stupid stuff that falls into the prank category is the infamous squirting pen with disappearing ink. This is a pen that is designed to squirt ink all over the poor victim’s shirt, causing them to ideally react with rage, only to have the ink mysteriously disappear in a few seconds. That will then lead to new feelings of befuddlement on the part of the victim, and hearty laughter on the part of the person or persons playing the prank. This is another harmless joke that has been pulled probably since the 1950’s, but is still in high demand in schoolyards everywhere.
Of course, the reason the Whoopee Cushion was so popular in the first place was because everyone loves a fart joke, the prime example of stupid stuff. This is a gag that will maybe never die, and is consistently still seen on the big screen as well as on television, in a number of different situations. Seeing anyone sit on a Whoopee Cushion and deal with the embarrassment of thinking that they have passed gas loudly in front of a group of people is instant comedy of the basest degree.
Video pranks are also very popular, and have been since the olden days of “Candid Camera.” In these hidden camera shows, an unsuspecting victim will find themselves in the midst of increasingly nonsensical stupid stuff going on around them. This will all be filmed of course, until finally someone jumps out to reveal that it is all just a prank. These kinds of pranks have endured and grown more popular with the internet, which means that they can be spread on sites like YouTube almost immediately and be seen by potentially millions. The garden variety prank now has a whole new audience.
