Ok … it’s been over a week now, and I have discovered a flaw (or two) with my new Magic Mesh Screen; which is hanging on my back door to the deck and backyard.

Don’t get me wrong … I am still quite happy with the product (considering I only spent around $15.00) at Walmart, but I would be lying if I said I am 100% happy with it.

First and foremost … my dogs and kids have not complete destroyed it ( … yet!), but the magnets in the middle are starting to come apart.  When my children enters or exits, through back door, they like to make a grand entrance by flying through the screen and strucks a landing with a “supa-sta” pose … hmmm … so good to be young and carefree!

Luckily … they haven’t ripped the plastic magnetic casing out of the screen, but the casting does come off rather easily.  If it was only in one location I would justify it as wear and tare (especially around the eye-level area where people use their hands to push the screen outward), but it’s all levels of the screen.

First magnetic casing came off in the middle of the screen, then the bottom, and then middle again, and then bottom, and then the top one.  My hubby put all those casing back together, but it needed little help from the super-glue.  Initially we just snapped it back on, but came off few hours later when we walked through the screen … so after few times later we just used glue to permanently fix the problem.

Second annoying thing, no-fault of the product, is the magnets getting stuck on to the back door.  I honestly didn’t think of this before, but since our doors are metal when you go through the screen one side of the drape’s magnets get constantly stuck; thus, I have to manually lift the screen and allow pre-existing magnets to claps together.  This is no big deal, but annoying when the kids go out the door and the bottom of the screen has not closed behind them … just annoying!

Other than that … I am happy with the product, and my kids love going them.  Why did I even buy my kids toys?  I should just hang whole bunch of these screen through out the house, and let my kids entertain themselves!  LOL

Well … it’s the buzz this season; BB Cream makeup!  I love makeup and beauty products … I just feel like a girly-girl!

I have been using BB beauty cream, from Korea, for over two years and US market has finally caught up with it!

BB cream was originally formulated in Germany in 1950s, and was first used to protect skin after lazer treatments and to provide light coverage for the users.

Then in 1980s it became popularized in Korea and in Japan by Korean celebrities’ endorsements; which in turn gained large exposures in Asian markets.

Unlike what we see in today’s US market (by Garnier, Dr. Jart, Dior and Clinique’s formulations — formulated and tailored for Western Market users) the Asian brands have limited number of hues and act as moisturizer, primer, foundation, sunblock, and sometimes skin lightening (or whitening) properties.  If you don’t know this yet, but in Asian society pale skin (in turn flawless porcelain look) is highly desired and desirable.

Ok … back to BB Cream.

I was first introduced to BB Cream by my friend because I have such challenging skin undertone to match.  I have olive/yellow undertone, and drug store makeup foundation and department store makeup was either too pink or too yellow or too olive.  I did try mix and matching them, but my skin tone changes daily … it is so frustrating!

I did, however, discovered that MAC foundation was perfect for me … it had full coverage plus matched my undertone!  Yeah!

However, since my undertone changes daily and summer season is just around the corner I was faced with another dilemma.  I needed a full coverage, but I needed lighter coverage look since making dripping down on my face was not that attractive.

I don’t mind using “all-day” makeup, but it makes me break out during summer time; so it’s a no-go.

Furthermore, since I am getting “older” I needed lighter coverage look to decrease the looks of fine wrinkles.

Well … after trial and errors I have discovered that a small drop of MAC foundation with one pump of Lioele Triple the Solution BB Cream does the trick!  MAC foundation has deeper color (to cover the imperfections on my face) and the Lioele has the illuminating hue to it that I look dewy all day long!  Note: Matt look on women in my age does not highlight our beauty!

Before coming to my final concoction … I did try to use the Lioele by itself, but it gave me a grey look … let’s just say it wasn’t pretty, and I looked too oily!

Also, I did accidentally ordered Lioele Beyond the Solution BB Cream, but it didn’t have extra coverage and has extra-oily reflection once you put it on your face.  So … I prefer the first one … Lioele Triple the Solution BB Cream!!!!

So … what is the difference between two?  Chart below is from Lioele website:

With that said … from a personal experience, I just prefer the Triple Cream best.  I have not yet tried the Western brand, but I guess when I run out of my Lioele I will give it a try.

OK … I finally did it!  I bought MAGIC MESH Screen yesterday at Walmart for $14.99 (minus the tax of course).

I love having fresh air in the house (especially having in-door animals); so I take advantage of good weathers as much as I can get!

Well … if it was up to me I would have installed real screen doors, however, my husband really hates the idea of screen doors!  I have been battling him for over ten (10) years to install hide-away screen doors, but as you can safely assume that I still have not gotten my screen doors!  Hmmm … what you gonna do; right?

So … I have been searching for screen alternatives for a long time, and few years ago I bought a screen curtains for back doors for $12 (or so).  It wasn’t what I  wanted, but at least it was something to prevent bugs from flying inside the house (well, that was the theory anyway).

The old screen curtain came in one piece, and you can install it using a rod that came in the box.  Most of the times it was great, but on windy days (nothing strong  … just some wind) it would swing the curtains back and forth leaving big gaps for bugs to enter … it’s like any kind of home curtain because when blows the curtain will swings.

The simple one piece curtain was not doing much because I would still get flies in the house, which is so disgusting, but they do come in no matter what you do.  However, when MAGIC MESH came in the market my husband thought it was great idea to purchase one; however, I was not about to spend $19.99 plus shipping and handling fee of $9.99 (or so) … don’t think so because I am too cheap for that.

If you are not familiar with the MAGIC MESH concept … according to Magic Mesh website, “Magic Mesh door cover instantly opens and magically snaps closed behind you using 18 strategically placed magnets.  Weather you have your hands full or a forgetful family member you can still let fresh air in and keep those bugs out.“

Anyhoot … we found it yesterday at Walmart and decide to take a chance because I had to replace the downstairs screen.  Well … the idea of this product was great, but the idea wasn’t complete.  For instance, basic perimeter installation is to be completed by using double-sided tape, provided in the box, on to the door frame, and extra “nail” pin for extra support.

I don’t know about you guys, but I hate using double-sided foam tapes onto any wood because it is virtually impossible to remove in the future; especially when my back door is facing the afternoon sun!

Thus, I decided to use my old curtain rod, from last mesh screen, but I had to sew a rod loop on top of the curtain (thank goodness the mesh was long enough for me to sew) .  It took me only few minutes to complete this task, but I was left with sides of the curtain because I didn’t want the wind to move the screen; so I just used small nails to force mesh curtains to stay put.

This project only took me total of 15 minutes to complete, and I am quite happy with it; expect for the installation process.  My husband is quite happy with it, and my dogs are not scared of using it because they are not dragging the long curtain back into the house.

My kids on the other hand, thinks it’s a great new toy … going back and forth, clicking the magnets together, and calling the dogs in and out of the house.  Man … I should have bought this screen long time ago just to entertain the kids!

I am quite happy with it thus far.

What a piece of junk!

Wise man once said … “you get what you paid for,” and I have to second that on this purchase.

I was being cheap (or let’s say frugal), and decided to head down to Menards to purchase Broadcast Spreader for ONLY $29.99 (minus tax and my Menards coupon I received via mail from the company).

I searched online to see how much these little babies costs, and it ranges from $30 – $100 for a simple push spreader!  There was no way in heck I was going to spend more than $50!  Come on!  It spread seeds or whatever you put it in the bucket!  What so special about it; right?

I have never owned a spreader, and never used one in my whole life, so I really don’t know what is considered good and what is considered bad.

Even well-known brands, like Scotts Turf Build, had negative online product reviews from customers on Lowe’s website; so what is the point of spending lots of money on them.

So … my logic was to get a “generic” brand … taking a chance.

Well … I almost had a nervous breakdown putting Broadcast Spreader together.  It wasn’t difficult or anything, but it was little annoying to put and hold parts together to assemble it properly.

After spending good 20 minutes outside putting this little baby together I was really anxious to spread some crab-grass killer (or whatever it is technically called).

I told my eldest to take the spreader to the back yard, but kept on fumbling around with the machine.  I got little bit annoyed thinking to myself “what the heck is the matter with that kid!  You just push it!”  Well … my child was not playing around with it!  It really was hard to push through the grass, and I was really struggling to get it right.

First and foremost, I couldn’t get the control level on correctly; so nothing was coming out.  Finally I manually moved the dispenser disk to keep the fertilizer at flow, but since I couldn’t push it through grass it was spilling out in one spot.  Let’s just say … it was a MESS!

After wrestling with the machine I just gave up.

I poured the fertilizer back into the package, and cleaned up the dispenser bucket and just packed it up in the garage.  I honestly don’t want to even look at it!

I am so exhausted from pushing that thing, honestly it felt like pushing a grocery cart full of water bottles.  Let’s just say the spreader won and I lost!

I have never returned a merchandise at Menards before, but I packed the spreader in the trunk and head back to the store to receive a full refund.

The lady, at the customer service, was laughing because she had the similar experience and she really sympathized with my frustration.

I received a full refund without any problem, and she apologized for the inconvenience.  At this point I was very happy with the store and its return policy.

I headed back to the lawn and garden department to look for a better model or brand, but unfortunately that was the only brand they carried and I was not about to take another chance; since the upgrade model had similar design.

However, the manager at the store asked me what my issue was and I told him what had happened.  He thanked me for the information, and informed me that it’s really important for him to get feedback from their customers to better help them.

I was really surprised how attentive they were, and even though Menards store is the furthest store from my house I am going to shop there more often.

With all that said … I still don’t have a spreader, but I am just going to leave this issue with my hubby!

There has been so many articles and blogs talking about pros and cons of having stockpiles for couponers.

In my opinion … there are more pros than cons. Before I can talk of pros I have to tell you that coupons changed my life for good.

Long before using coupons I would shop at Sam’s Club thinking I am getting the best price if I shop at bulk-stores.

Every month I would take my hubby and pick up bottled waters, paper towels, toilet papers, coffee, creamers, rice, pastas, meats, produce, and etc leaving between $250 – $400 at the checkout lane. Of course, this does not include going to the regular grocery stores – probably every other day to pick up little things here and there throughout the month.

After discovering COUPONS I would pick up all the things I would usually pick up at Sam’s Club at fraction of price at Dillons and Gerbes.

Unfortunately, I can’t completely take out Sam’s Club out of my shopping trip equation because I have not found cheaper alternatives. For instance, I cook only basamati rice at home, but buying them at regular grocery store is out of the question — a container of basamatic costs around $10, but I can pick up 20 lb of rice sack at Sam’s for only $17 … math adds up here.

In addition, my hubby is very picky with his coffee creamer, and only creamer he likes is International Delight French Vanilla creamer pumps — one pump equal 1 creamer singles. Before discovering creamer pumps he would go through a bottle of liquid creamer in 4-5 days (yes … we do drink lots of coffee at home), and with that math I would probably hash out around $14 – $20 in creamers. At Sam’s I would pick up a pump for $10 and will last a whole month! Once again … math adds up here as well.

With all that said … I have discovered a negative side to having a well-stocked and well balanced stockpiles!

According to many articles I have read online, many think couponers who stockpiles are hoarders, creater of unnecessary spending, broke (we don’t have the money to spend), and etc. You probably know what I am talking about here …

Anyhoot … you might be wondering, especially to couponers, what I might consider negative to my own stockpiles. Well … the answer is … SNACKING!

Since I have all kinds of snacks (chips, cookies, fruit bars, candy, and etc) I keep on going to my stockpiles and eating them! I know I should have some sort of self-control, but when I have taste for something I just get out of my chair and go to my stockpile room.

If I didn’t have a bag of chips I wouldn’t dream of driving to the store, or to gas station, to pick up a bag of chips, but since it’s so readily available in my house I keep on attacking my stash! AND the stash is winning because I have gained extra eight (8) pounds! LOL

So … there it is.

I found a con for having a stockpile! It’s snack-lover’s paradise!
