Are you overwhelmed by clutter and stuff in your home? Does being in your home cause anxiety from the amount of disorder in your home? Do you long to have a clean well organized home free? Here are a few helpful tips in getting organized.
Many people have stuff in their home that they may not even like. One of the easiest ways to de-clutter you home is to get rid of things that you don’t even like. That lamp that you got for a wedding present that you hate, get rid of it. The sweater that your great aunt gave you for Christmas last year that you hate and have never worn it, get rid of it. You are the one who has to live in your home and it should be a place that you can relax, but it should also reflect who you are. Getting rid of the things in your home that you do not like can be one of the easiest steps in clearing out space.
When looking at your space or room that you want to organize have a plan in mind of what you ultimately want your space to look like. Once you have a realistic picture in your mind you can set a goal of how much stuff you realistically can keep in that space. For example if you are organizing your closet you can see the clothes overflowing from the drawers and the racks so stuffed full that you cant even see what you have hanging up anymore. Set a goal of how much you will get rid of or come up with the number of things that you can keep in your closet and it be a functional space that does not look like it is going to cave in on you and burry you beneath a mountain of clothes.
Another easy tip for cutting down on the amount of stuff inside your home is to rent a storage space if there is things that you want to keep but not necessarily display in your home. A great example of this is family heirlooms. You may have inherited your grandfathers bedroom outfit and the guest bedroom that you have it in is just too small of a space for it to fit in neatly. There is no room to move around and it makes the room seem very tiny. You want to keep it but you need the furniture in the space to work with the room not against it. Having a storage unit for stuff like this can allow you to organize and utilize the space that you have and still allow you to hold on to your stuff.
Another great tip to organizing your home is to have a friend or family member help you. Having someone to keep you on task and just having someone to talk to while you work will help it seem less like a chore and make it into a bit more fun. Play some up beat music and have a fun time with your friend while you go through all of your stuff.
So the next time you look around your home and are thinking about how much space you have underneath all of this extra stuff, or find yourself picturing how much extra space you could have in your home with a little organization or storage solution think about these few simple tips. Living in a clean and clutter free house is possible for you.
